I went to Rome just 3 months ago to visit one of my best friends, Ty, who was studying abroad there at the time. It quickly became one of my favorite cities in a blur of monuments I'd only heard of in books and movies while growing up, amidst pale orange, mustard yellow, and deep green hues. However, I wasn't able to take many pictures since we were riding through narrow Roman roads on bicycles (over cobblestones and alongside insane Italian drivers). I decided to return so I could take a few snapshots of the grandeur and humbling beauty of the buildings around me, as well as experience different parts of the city with my coinquilline (flatmates) and some friends! My last trip consisted of multiple detours and back-alley routes, copious amounts of gelato, and wandering through gardens near the edge of the city. This time, instead of biking past the Vatican and the Roman Forum at night with dim lights, I was able to hit the tourist traps and spend some time at Musei Vaticani and the Colosseo. My dad asked if I threw a coin in Fontana di Trevi 3 months ago, and he told me it meant I'd return to Rome once again in my lifetime. So, here I am! I threw another one in, of course. I'm hoping that it means I will find myself visiting Rome yet again. Rome in the rain was just as charming as it was on a sunny day, and I'm convinced that there will always be something to do or see in this restless city, whatever the season may be. Ci vediamo, Roma - we'll see each other soon!
